This range was inspired by an old Red Ensign which I had attached to the fence in my garden, thrown out by a sailor who was replacing it with a crisp new one. Each year it became tattier and  faded greatly, yet  so interesting to look at and touch. I wondered if I could replicate this weathered look on canvas to bring a contemporary feel to an item taken for granted when you live by the coast and of course, to bring a little pride back into  being British!
